Color-Coded Word Cards For Reading Street
These cards have the same words as the picture/word cards. The new vowel or consonant pattern is printed in a bright color to make it stand out. After playing the robot game with the picture/word cards, I have students take turns reading the color-coded word cards and putting them in the pocket chart next to the matching picture. Then I have students read all the words aloud, form the pocket chart, in unison. I leave the cards on display so that students can refer to them while doing the spelling worksheets.
I print these on white cardstock with a color laser printer. The pages are cut into fourths, making four complete sets. I use a paper cutter that will print the whole stack at once. Print shops will cut the whole stack at a reasonable cost.
The color-coded cards are not ready yet.
